Released as a single on December 3, 1977, the song was included on Heatwave's debut album Too Hot to Handle. The single reached #18 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, #2 on the US Billboard R&B chart, #12 on the U.S. Cash Box Top 100, and #9 on the UK Official Charts. "Always and Forever" was certified platinum by the RIAA on September 6, 2001.
