It's not about 'giving everything', it's about adopting an entirely different singing technique; while he did scream like he did on this record live, he would often blow out his voice doing so (see the Live 84 release). He didn't sing like this on the studio recordings following Damaged, and it probably has something to do with the fact that he would blow out his voice if he did.

i remember making tapes of this album and taping it to the back of my bed so my dad wouldnt find it.he said this music is evil.but now i look back and if it wasnt for black flag id probably of never got laid or had any friends..i think this music is as real as the world gets.lyrics are true and i personally like evil music better.
