Is it just me or is Schadenfreude actually re-written version of Coveting Elysium, albeit slightly different?

Yeah, I've meant that beginning part. Similarities end at around 3 mins or so though

Pretty much Coveting Elysium was the origin of many songs from half of their latter discography. For example An Extrinsic Divide in Atra Mors also has a riff from this song, and Suffer the Martyr's Trial (Procession at Dusk) too

The artwork isn't that bad in the end, I'm starting to like it, fits good to the overall atmosphere of the album

There's one track available for preview on bandcamp. Based on that, mastering is better than on Atra Mors but it's still quite loud and clipping can be heard :-/

If you like Evoken then there's no reason why you wouldn't enjoy Ataraxie or possibly Asunder and Funeralium. Plus some very similar non-funeral doom bands like Indesinence and Anhedonist.

Have they EVER played the West Coast? I feel like I'm never going to see them live.

Has anyone else noticed that the drum tone on Atra Mors sounds fucking weak? Still a phenomenal album but the drums sound awful.

v "Antithesis.." is good; I listened to it in 2005, but I wasn't impressed as much as I did in the 'Embrace The Emptiness' (probably my fave doom record ever, along with MDB's Turn Loose the Swans" and Disembowelment's "Transcendence.."

Such a beautifully dark atmosphere. The cavernous drums as they echo across the soundscape, the way the guitar mournfully wails, I can even find some beauty in the growls that seem to be howling at the moon. Occasionally, the vocals break into a pained cry or even a chant, and I love the almost Transylvanian synthesizers.
