Weakling's debut album; Dead As Dreams would be released somewhere between 1999. The same year Weakling as a band disbanded. But Dead As Dreams wouldn't be released as an album conventionally. This version of Dead As Dreams would additionally be released independently by the band as a demo CD and cassette before being released and distributed under the tUMULt label somewhere around 2000.

Dead As Dreams was recorded somewhere around December 1998; a year after they've formed and a year later before disbandment. Being recorded at Louder Studios in the San Francisco area, Dead As Dreams is only five tracks and has a total runtime of an hour and sixteen minutes with each track expanding pass the ten minute mark. Dead As Dreams mixes a sound of , , and so well that each that; each and every musical influence on this album blends perfectly and as a result; gives way to this cacophony sound collage that's apocalyptic and dystopian in nature. With each track standing out by themselves sonically and technically, as each and every one of these tracks progresses perfectly alongside each other until the end. While Weakling might've delivered short on their discography and their three year run, as a band, Weakling has garnered a massive cult-following over the years as having one of the best albums out there in the space.

Dead As Dreams' album cover is an art piece of Francisco de Goya's painting called, "Buen viaje" ("Good journey" in Spanish). Under the tUMULt label, Dead As Dreams would get a CD release in 2000 and a limited copy of 500 units on vinyl. Throughout the years, Dead As Dreams would get a limited edition hand-made cassette release that would only have 300 copies, and three CD reissues from tUMULt; though it's unclear when these were reissued and released. And many cassette bootlegs by admirers. Each release fetching well over in the $35 dollar range, all the way to over a thousand dollars.
