I'm surprised to see so many positive reviews for this album. I've tried to get into it every now and then throughout the year and I've reached the conclusion that I find the album to be quite boring. "The Game Is Over" and "Use My Voice" are the only two tracks that stand out on the album, whereas the rest are all fine but they're not very interesting to listen to. As other people have said, the mixing is not amazing either.

Can't believe how perfect this album is. Emotional, heavy, raw, beautiful... Purely Evanescence.

Love it, been a long time coming for an album that is made up of completely new material but it definitely has been worth the wait.

The opener alone proved that this album was worth the 10 (!!!) year wait!! Lyrically straight-forward, retrospective and musically heavier than - maybe - ever before. Over-production falls a flat here and there, drowning out Amy Lee's beautiful (duh) vocals and the symphonic elements. 10/10! Favorite tracks: Broken Pieces Shine, Far From Heaven and Yeah Right.

This is kind of a mixed bag to my ears. There are some really good tracks and some that are pretty damn bland. Also, something about the production seems a bit off - not as bad as other recent production jobs (see: the terrible production on Sirenia's newest album) but still. Definitely not as consistent as "The Open Door", "Fallen" or s/t imo. In any case, I'll probably go see them if they tour on it, which might not be for a while... thanks a lot, COVID-19.

I don't know anything about production, but to me is understandable that the final mix sound kinda strange. They had to work together rometely sending all the stuff they had to record online (not everything tho, mostly Amy and Jen, just a bit of Troy and Tim too) Amy had to record a good part of the last songs' vocals all alone since they couldn't be together anymore, not even her and the producer alone in the studio, he had to teach her how to use some devices from the other side of a parking lot so she could do it at home. It was something new to them all, I guess. It's not an excuse but, I don't know, it happens. I'm glad with the final result either way, but I understand some people criticizing the mixing.

I can certainly see it being difficult to put an album together while trying to social distance. I can't even imagine making an album under these circumstances since I've never even been in a band before. I was in choir in high school, but that's like... the closest thing. lol
