Same here. That rising keyboard part at the end of the chorus. I believe it is a Roland Super JX-10 Synthesizer. If you recognise it from somewhere (like I initially did), it's just the Mandela Effect, it is completely original. Well, I say original, there was a song by Neneh's husband (Cameron McVey) called "Looking Good Diving", which included a slower version of the same part. The B-side for that single was a song called "Looking Good Diving with the Wild Bunch", which included a early version of Buffalo Stance, with Neneh Cherry singing, but it was much less upbeat, hence the lyrics "Looking good, hanging with the wild bunch". But that was released less than 2 years earlier than Buffalo Stance and it was rather obscure, so it probably wasn't from that you heard it. It's just got such a hypnotising sound that sparks off nostalgia, which makes it sound so familiar.

Neneh Cherry was a regular visitor to Ray's (Ray Petri) flat, listening to Luther Vandross or the Everly Brothers. Coming up with the first lines was, she remembers, like writing a letter - what we were feeling, what we went through...

#1 on Urban Dictionary re: 'Buffalo Stance': "To stand with your arms tightly crossed looking over to side at somebody. This comes from the pose struck by Bruce Smith of the Buffalo Bills in the late 1980's "

We always hang in a buffalo stance. Urm...whatever that looks like. I didn't know when this song came out and I still have no clue what she's talking about. Still gotta sing along though!

I'll be honest-- I didn't appreciate this song when it was released, but years later and hopefully wiser, I see its brilliance. Ahead of its time, and way ahead of me at the time!
